We have a busy year planned. The speaker openings for this year are almost full and we are going to try our hand at publishing another anthology.

Denton Writers League Anthology

It seems that everyone would like to do another anthology this year.

Due to the varying genres of our members, we will not limit the content to just one genre. Non-fiction will be accepted too. It has been suggested that any non-fiction pieces be related to writing and any aspects of writing (ie, marketing, publishing, editing).

We'll need 4 or 5 editors. At the moment, I have two volunteers plus myself. The editors will read the submissions for acceptance. Once accepted, the submissions will be divided amongst the editors for content and grammatical editing. I'll format the manuscript for publishing. We also need to decide if we want to go through Dan Case or publish it ourselves through lulu.com.

Besides volunteers for editing, we will need to decide on a submission deadline, a title and cover art. I think due to what I learned last time, we'll limit the short stories and essays to 5000 words and the poetry to 25 lines but no limit on the number of poetry submissions. Some of the poetry in the last anthology were so long that it carried over to another page and sometimes over to two pages which made the flow hard to maintain which in turn made the poem hard to read.

The requirement is that if the submission is accepted and they are not already a member of the DWL, that they join since it is a DWL Project.
