NON-FICTION WRITING NICHES by Dr. Alexey
Root
Whatever your current genre, consider writing non-fiction articles to further
your career or to open up new opportunities. On August 13, inventory your skills
and interests with the help of Dr. Alexey Root. By the end of her workshop-style
presentation, you will be ready to write an article for your perfect non-fiction
niche.
Dr. Alexey Root was the 1989 U.S. Women’s Chess Champion and is the author of five books on chess in education: Children and Chess: A Guide for Educators (2006); Science, Math, Checkmate: 32 Chess Activities for Inquiry and Problem Solving (2008); Read, Write, Checkmate: Enrich Literacy with Chess Activities (2009); People, Places, Checkmates: Teaching Social Studies with Chess (2010), and The Living Chess Game: Fine Arts Activities for Kids 9-14 (2011).
Alexey Root has a Ph.D. in education from UCLA. She is a senior lecturer in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas. Root currently teaches Chess in Education online courses, available worldwide for college credit. She writes for Chess Life and Chess Life Online and edits books for Mongoose Press.
